A FREE EVENT – National Iyengar Yoga Day – Saturday 13 January 2018
Dress Code: colours of the rainbow
Price: FREE with donations to our Indian Bellur Charity
“Each asana has a beautiful shape, grace and elegance that bestows power and makes the practitioner as strong as a DIAMOND and at the same time as soft as a FLOWER” BKS Iyengar
Diamonds and flowers will be our theme and we’ll take inspiration directly from our visits to India and lessons taught by Guruji himself. Just as a diamond reflects light and flowers come in many bright colours, we ask you to wear ‘the colours of the rainbow’ to the event this year.
So, come prepared to have fun, practice with us and listen to more tales of our experiences at the RIMYI Institute in celebration!
To book: email Elaine Rees at email@example.com and include your full name and contact telephone number (mobile if possible). Advance booking is ESSENTIAL, places are limited and last year we were fully booked!! So, kindly book ASAP and we’ll send final details one week before the event.

In 19 January 1975, BKS Iyengar opened up RIMYI, his school in Pune, India. To celebrate this, his method of teaching and to bring us together as a local Iyengar yoga community, 14 January has been designated UK National Iyengar Yoga Day! This is a free event and you’re invited to make a donation towards Mr Iyengar’s home village in India (Bellur) where education, sanitation and health is being improved.
There will be two teachers – Elaine Rees and Zoe Hobbs - and we’ll offer an energising class for an hour followed by another 30 minutes of restorative poses. All this rounded off with tea and home-made cakes donated by students!
As well as having fun together, we aim to include some interesting facts and tales of our experiences at the RIMYI Institute in celebration!
As we are in frosty winter and the RIMYI sign is black lettering on white marble, we’d like you to wear BLACK and WHITE!!
To book: email Elaine Rees at email@example.com and include your full name and contact telephone number (mobile if possible). Advance booking is essential! We’ll send confirmation upon receipt of your email.
